Miles Bailey Gets Down On One Knee- REVIEW

Let’s talk tropes.

If you haven’t gathered I’m in my “bookish era.” (Not a total swiftie but I can appreciate a good term) Anyway, marriage of convenience is what we are focusing on today. While not my go to in the way of tropes I get sucked in completely when I read them. Some of my favorite sweet romantic comedies are marriage or relationship of convenience. I usually start reading them to go through a series and they surprisingly became a favorite. One of my all time favorites is Nacho Boyfriend by Gigi Bloome. It’s funny and cute and also a trope that I really enjoy which is grumpy/ sunshine. In general the guy is a grump and a cynic while the girl is sweet and kind and adorable and inevitably wears down the guy. Ha ha. It’s always adorable and always hooks me in. Maybe that is why these relationship of convenience rom coms always become favorites  for me.

I’ve recently read three more that are really great. Romancing the Grump by Jenny Proctor (5 stars), Betrothal or Breakaway by Leah Brunner (4 stars) and Miles Bailey gets down on one knee by Jen Atkinson. Miles Bailey and Betrothal or Breakaway are not grumpy/sunshine necessarily but they are great!

We are here to mostly talk about Miles Bailey Gets Down on One Knee. I got it as an ARC (advance reader copy) so I could review it and create a piece of artwork to go with it.

It was a very cute sweet romantic comedy about an artist just trying to get by (as most of us do) who meets and unintentionally helps a rock star (Delaney aka Laney) improve her image. She was in a successful rock group but things changed and she’s going another direction but her public image isn’t great so she heads to … you guessed it… a small town and inadvertently meets a kind artist on one of her worst days. They strike a friendship and he agrees to help her out.

Now the thing that always gets me with the marriage of convenience stories is the complete improbability of it and yet there’s always some way that the authors make them just believable enough that you totally understand their reasoning or at least 80% of the reasoning and you jump in head first.

Anyway as you may already have guessed it’s adorable they fall for each other (spoiler) and it’s a great read!

This is in a series of Bailey brother’s romcoms and Miles is probably my favorite brother. I’m sure that he’s an artist and I can just relate with much of his personality and struggles. I also appreciate that he has been written as just a good sweet guy from the beginning of this series. I felt like you got a good idea of how generous and sweet he was from the other books even though you only see him at small glimpses. I’d also suggest reading Levi Bailey Gets Butterflies, a grumpy/sunshine if I’ve ever read one. Meredith, his love interest, is one of my favorite FMCs (female main character) I’ve read in a long time. I wanted to kick Levi’s butt quite a few times in that one but it was also somewhat endearing.

The other book in the series so far is Owen Bailey needs Advise. It’s a friends to lovers trope and very fun. Although with friends to lovers I always want to smack them both and say, “Hey you dummies, you love each other! Get together already!” At the same time they are also some of the sweetest rom coms to read.

Ultimately I say try reading all the tropes even if you aren’t  particularly draw to them. You may be surprised when you list your favorite stories how many of them are actually what you never thought you’d love. Give those relationship of convenience tropes a try. 😉 Miles. Bailey gets down on one knee is a good place to start. (Alsong with the ones stated above)

Happy reading. ❤️
